Inspiration
As someone who regularly attends a running club and enjoys 5k races, I often found myself wondering how my pace would translate to other distances—like a 10k, half marathon, or even a 2k. I realized there wasn’t a simple, quick tool that could convert my known running times into estimates for other distances. That curiosity sparked the idea for this app.
What it does
The app takes a known race time and distance (2k, 5k, 10k, half-marathon and marathon) and converts it into predicted finish times for other common race distances using pace extrapolation.
How I built it
I used Bolt.new to generate the code from a single prompt. I hosted the final version using Netlify at runningcalc.netlify.app
Challenges I ran into
I didn't run into any challenges because it was just a singular prompt.
Accomplishments that i'm proud of
Making a good, working app from a singular prompt.
What I learned
I learned how powerful a single prompt can be when using tools like Bolt.new. It taught me how to communicate what I want clearly and efficiently to an AI in order to generate an app.
What's next for Running Calculator
I'll share it with my friends at my running club and see their thoughts on it and any new additions that they want.
