In the peak of COVID in 2020, my Mom gave my younger Brother, Daksh, a haircut. Well, actually, my Mom butchered the beautiful hair that Daksh had spent years crafting. I could relate to the horror on his face after. I, too, have cried after a haircut... as have 1 in 5 American women. And, I have felt deeply frustrated with my hair, not knowing what the right products were for my hair type and texture, or how to style it so I wasn't doing the same thing every day.
I created Runi for people who feel similar frustration at the lack of reliability and hassle of exploration / experimentation that exists currently. Hair shouldn't be this hard.
That's why, after heavy market and product design research, I created an app that has 2 primary functionalities:
- Letting people overlay infinite, hyper-real hairstyles directly onto a rotatable, 3D view of their own head and neck, so you can see what a hairstyle would look like on your before you get it.
- And a "Tutorialist" section, where people with similar hair types and textures as you will take you through tutorials on how you can style and take care of it.
