had a bit of a disaster! Suddenly my game ran at 45fps with no changes, spent a few hours trying to fix it, couldn't work it out. Then I checked the over metrics and my battery was in the red, it was thermal throttling me. It was fine if I turned off the environment, but you have to have one of those.
Luckily, I built in a level of detail system ages ago. So I just switched it to the next level of detail, where the voxels were twice the size they normally are in it worked great, 90fps. The environment got a bit crappy, but thats better than unplayable fps. Gonna have to put in something that automatically detects throttling and lowers environment resolution by itself. I haven't touched the lod system in god knows how long, luckily it still works fine.
