Inspiration
As athletes, we are always looking for more feedback and to push ourselves harder. Personal trainers solve this problem, but are costly, and training is usually limited to short intervals. Run With It is an AI powered run coach that runs with you, pushes you harder, and helps you reach your goals.
What it does
The wearable consists of sensors and an ESP32, which communicates with a server. The server holds the data and calls the NVIDIA Nemotron AI, which then provides spoken feedback to the athlete. Additionally, the user can interact with the AI trainer by speaking to it, adding functionality without being a hindrance during a run.
How we built it
We used sensor prototype boards and an ESP32 on a 3D printed band. The server is written in Python.
Challenges we ran into
Communicating the data into the model Large footprint of prototyping sensor boards.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning how to use new technologies. Designing a working wearable product in 24 hours.
What we learned
How to build a fully integrated hardware and software design. We also learned how to integrate AI agents into our designs.
What's next for Run With It
Improved Design: A purpose built printed circuit board allows the wearable to have more sensors in a smaller footprint, decreasing the bulk of Run With It. Additionally, improved materials such as titanium increases robustness and creates a art piece users are proud to wear. Simplified Pipeline: Using a higher powered microprocessor on Run With It would allow it to work without a server, handling sensor data and API and Nemotron calls without an additional server. Business Scalability: Different colors and materials in cases and bands allows for customers to express themselves and match Run With It to their individual style. It also creates another source of revenue beyond customers only buying a single unit. Additionally, the positioning as an AI device replacing a personal trainer allows for a subscription model, creating a win-win for the business (who benefits from consistent revenue) and customer (who saves money from using Run With It instead of a personal trainer).
