Run for Pink - Team@Zensar
Breast Cancer – “Early Detection is the best Protection”. Every step towards understanding early signs & symptoms counts. Two of the top preventive measures are (1) Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and (2) Getting physically active.
Zensar’s step-a-thon app is a simple yet effective way of utilizing digital technology to achieving the above goals of awareness and fitness. We aim to achieve this in a four-fold way
Zensar Family has committed to walking 5Mn steps this October. Step-a-thon app tracks and counts every step in real-time that contributes to overall goal of 5Mn. Every foot forward, emphasises the importance of physical activity while spreading awareness.
“Cancer warrior stories” - Powerful stories of breast cancer survivors from fellow Zensarians help us get inspired through their personal journeys.
“Social Wall” section - All hashtags of #TechInPink2020, #TimeToEndBreastCancer and #ELCdonates are captured to be posted as part of the larger social media awareness campaign.
“Leaders’ Speak”- We learn from Zensar’s leadership on how Zensar is committed and united, in the goal of mobilizing the tech community in this Movement.
With Step-a-thon, we move closer to the goal of ending breast cancer, one step at a time!
We built the app using Swift iOS as app language, Elixir programming language for API development, postgres as DB, Ubuntu as operating system and docker alpine containers using AWS for deploying the backend
Challenges we ran into
Too many UI changes we did, we as a team did lot of brainstorming to make the App. Our leaders encouraged and supported us through out to contributing to the hackathon
We are proud that we convinced our management to deploy the app and used by all Zensar employees for one full month of october 2020. To reach our goal of Five Million steps of Virtual Marathon
