Inspiration

The concept of daily play and having a reason to come back day after day inspired us to expand on the game Run Bun Bun Run. Remembering our Gigapets and tamagotchis from days gone by inspired us to give players a motivation to brave the endless platforms in Run Bun Bun Run.

What it does

Everyday you'll get 3 lives to go on runs. As you play, you'll find your bunny friends along with carrot seeds and water droplets. Pick them up and when your run is over you'll return to your burrow. Use your resources to feed the bunnies you've rescued and they'll give you more lives to adventure again and rescue more of your friends.

How we built it

We spent the initial weeks dramatically refactoring and designing new elements for our game. We've illustrated, animated, and crunched to make a polished engaging experience that we'd want to play again and again.

Challenges we ran into

Refactoring took much longer than expected and building the systems we needed for our "burrow" gameplay was difficult. Our concept of the game morphed overtime as we worked.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The burrow part of our game is really cozy, the bunnies are cute, and keeping them happy and safe is really rewarding.

What we learned

Planning stages are critical to either reign in scope creep, or flesh things out as needed.

What's next for Run Bun Bun Run Burrow

If we don't get to it by the deadline, we have the design, animations and groundwork in place to give players an ultimate goal of defeating the pesky and deadly cat that lurks the woods. We want players to have multiple paths to victory. Brute force and pure skill? Or cunning and discovery of secrets to craft mysterious items. The endless runs might not be so endless after all.
