RUMO

Inspiration -

Our inspiration for RUMO stemmed from the desire to revolutionize travel planning. We wanted to create a tool that could effortlessly generate comprehensive travel itineraries tailored to each user's preferences, making travel planning an enjoyable and stress-free experience.

What it does -

RUMO utilizes Google AI Studio and Gemini API to construct detailed travel itineraries based on a user's desired destination and timeframe. RUMO crafts personalized itineraries that includes daily travel plan, activities, restaurant and food recommendations, transportation tips and details on tickets and reservations needed.

How we built it -

We built RUMO's frontend using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TailwindCSS to create an intuitive user interface that enhances the user experience and facilitates seamless interaction with the platform. The backend is powered by MongoDB, providing a scalable and efficient database solution to store and manage user data and itinerary information. We integrated Google AI Studio and Gemini API for itinerary generation, ensuring accuracy and relevance in itinerary recommendations through system instructions. For deployment, we utilized Flask and Render to host RUMO.

Challenges we ran into -

One of the main challenges we faced during the development of RUMO was providing accurate system instructions through Google AI Studio to generate our desired itinerary style. Another challenge was to implement a continuous conversation attribute through RUMO, which would be developed in the future.

Accomplishments that we're proud of -

We're proud to have created a Gen-AI powered tool that streamlines the travel planning process and empowers users to explore the world with confidence. RUMO's ability to deliver personalized recommendations tailored to each user's unique preferences would mark a significant accomplishment in the field of AI-driven travel technology.

What we learned -

Through the development of RUMO, we gained valuable insights into the complexities of travel planning and the diverse needs of travelers. We learned how to leverage AI to enhance user experiences in the travel industry. Additionally, we honed our skills in frontend and backend development, database management, and deployment technologies.

What's next for RUMO -

In the future, we envision RUMO evolving into a comprehensive travel companion that offers even more advanced features and capabilities. We plan to integrate additional functionalities such as, personalized recommendations based on user feedback, including hotel, flight, and car rental booking options by aiming to forge partnerships with travel agencies and service providers, and integrating with google maps to provide real-time itinerary tracking and updation. In Overall, develop RUMO into fully developed product to enhance users’ travel experience.
