Inspiration
Inspired by the easy-to-pick-up Jackbox creative writing games, I wanted Ruin It to capture that same feeling in a bite-sized experience
What it does
Ruin It is a creative-writing game where players take a wholesome prompt and write a humorous, dark, or absurd twist on it. Given a prompt like "A newborn baby's first smile", players write a ruin, like "The baby has a full set of adult teeth!"
Entries are posted as Reddit comments, and the community votes on the winners, who are rewarded with a medal in their user flair.
How we built it
Using the React Devvit template, I made a very simple UX flow of prompt > answer > vote > reward.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm quite pleased with the look & feel of Ruin It - the big ol' red button with juicy effects, the cute little devil hand urging players to tap the input area. I think I added a lot of character into this little project!
