Inspiration
As broke and bored college students, we thought about ideas that are relevant to our daily lives. We decided that it would cool if we could have a program that would tell us where to buy the cheapest game available. After watching the demo at HackRU, we thought having a text bot that would implement that functionality would be useful to us.
What it does
RUGAMING is a bot named Noobie, since he sucks at gaming(like a certain someone in our group : )). His primary function is telling you the place and price of the game you asked and being your friend(if you ask nicely). He can also tell you top titles of certain genres as well as being an entertainment.
How we built it
We built this program by data scraping multiple websites that contains information about the ratings and price of PC games.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into multiple challenges in this project since we had no experience with what we were doing when we came in. Brainstorming and researching what tools are necessary took up a significant amount of time as well as trying to learn the different tools and piece them together. We all had large learning curves in order to learn what we needed for this project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that even though we came into HackRU with minimal idea and knowledge of what we want to do, we still ended up building someone functional and even useful. We learning new skills as well as build on our team working abilities.
What we learned
We learned how to communicate in a team setting as well as how to narrow down problems to smaller one in order to find the correct information to solve it.
What's next for RUGaming
RUGAMING will learn and hopefully be a better chatbot in later implementations.
