RUET Academic Intelligence Platform Project Description Problem RUET students often manage their academic life across scattered resources such as lecture slides, course materials, assignments, previous questions, notices, syllabi, and personal study notes. Finding the right information, understanding difficult topics, preparing efficiently for exams, and deciding what to study next can become time-consuming and overwhelming. Traditional LMS platforms mainly provide access to resources but do not actively understand a student's academic needs or guide their learning. Solution RUET Academic Intelligence is an AI-powered academic platform designed to make the learning experience simpler, smarter, and more personalized for RUET students. Instead of functioning as a traditional LMS, the platform acts as an AI academic companion that connects courses, learning materials, assessments, study plans, practice questions, and student performance. Students can access their courses and materials, ask questions about course topics, generate exam-oriented practice questions, receive personalized study plans, search academic resources, and get guided assistance with assignments. How It Works The platform provides a centralized academic workspace where students can: • View their courses and semester syllabus • Access course materials and academic resources • Ask questions through the AI Course Assistant • Generate topic-specific practice questions with different difficulty levels • Receive personalized multi-day study plans based on exams and weak areas • Get guided, Socratic assistance for assignments instead of simply receiving answers • Search across academic materials using natural-language queries • Track assignments, assessments, notices, and academic priorities • Identify knowledge gaps and receive recommendations on what to study next The dashboard is designed around the question: "What should I focus on right now?" Rather than simply displaying statistics, it highlights upcoming assessments, weak topics, study priorities, and recommended actions. How AI / Gemini Is Used Gemini is the intelligence layer of the platform. The Google Gemini API is integrated into the backend to provide several core AI capabilities. 1. AI Course Assistant Students can ask questions about a specific course. The system retrieves relevant course-material chunks and provides them as context to Gemini. Gemini then generates a structured explanation based on the available academic material, including source and page/slide references where applicable. This makes the assistant more course-aware rather than functioning as a generic chatbot. 2. AI Practice Question Generation Gemini generates engineering-focused practice questions based on: • Course • Topic • Difficulty • Semester It can generate MCQs with answers, explanations, and exam-oriented context to help students prepare more effectively. 3. Personalized AI Study Plans Students can provide an upcoming exam, available preparation time, and weak topics. Gemini generates a structured study plan containing daily goals, topic priorities, theory review, problem solving, and self-assessment activities. 4. AI Assignment Guidance The platform uses Gemini as a Socratic academic coach. Instead of directly completing an assignment, the AI analyzes the student's problem and current attempt, then provides conceptual hints, relevant formulas, guided steps, and self-check questions. This encourages learning while maintaining academic integrity. 5. AI-Powered Academic Recommendations Student performance and weak-topic information can be used to identify areas that need attention. The dashboard can then turn these insights into actionable recommendations, such as reviewing a specific topic, asking the AI for an explanation, or starting a practice session.
