Because there's no place like home, we designed a system to detect and help prevent people from entering the homeless system. We aggregate public information from various sources and process it to detect people who are likely to become homeless while there's still time to prevent it.
The Ruby Slippers project is a comprehensive system to help case workers proactively contact people needing assistance and automatically put them in touch with a registered network of local care providers in their immediate neighborhood. After the needs of the client are identified and vetted, the geographically closest care provider with the necessary capability to prevent them from entering the homeless system is contacted automatically and presented with the opportunity to provide that assistance. The system keeps track of the assistance provided and uses it to create reports calculating and graphing the success rates of the process.
Those who are unfortunately unable to receive the necessary assistance in the prevention program will be redirected to a system to locate the closest nearby homeless shelter capable of accommodating their needs. It will use a geographically-based automated filtering system similar to the one we used in the prevention program.
