Inspiration As populations age globally, millions of elderly individuals are left without adequate support, while family members struggle to find reliable, trustworthy caregiving options. At the same time, professional caregivers face difficulties in finding clients in need of their unique skills and schedules. We were inspired to create Rubix.AI to bridge this critical gap — ensuring that no elderly person feels isolated or unsupported, and that caregivers can thrive in their vocation. Our goal is to use AI to build meaningful, human-centered connections.
What it does Rubix.AI is a smart matchmaking platform that connects elderly individuals (or their families) with vetted caregivers based on compatibility, availability, skill set, location, and even shared interests. But it goes beyond simple scheduling. Using AI, Rubix.AI learns preferences and patterns over time to make smarter matches and ensure long-term satisfaction. Features include:

How we built it Rubix.AI was built using a modern tech stack:
Frontend: React.js for a clean, accessible user interface tailored for both elderly users and caregivers
Backend: Node.js with Express, integrated with Firebase for real-time data and authentication
AI Matching Engine: Python-based recommendation system using natural language processing (NLP) and decision trees to weigh compatibility factors
Database: Firestore for fast and scalable document storage
Security: End-to-end encryption for messages and robust role-based access controls
We designed with accessibility in mind — large fonts, voice interaction, and simplified navigation.
Challenges we ran into User Experience for Elderly Users: Designing a digital interface that is intuitive for seniors, some of whom may have limited tech experience, took multiple iterations.
Trust and Safety: Ensuring that all caregivers are verified and trustworthy required building a thorough vetting system with identity checks and reviews.
