Inspiration

Our goal is to use modern AI and autonomous technology to create a drone to assist in search and rescue operations. We want to do our part in keeping first responders safe in their daily lives.

What it does

-Incorporates modern AI and autonomous technology with drones -Greatly increases the search speed of rescue teams with even less human involvement -Keeps our rescuers safe: Drones are expendable, humans aren’t

Challenges we ran into

-Choosing the best and most feasible solution to our problem -Choosing a drone -Fitting necessary components onto the drone -Attempting to use Arduino for microphone and speaker -Noise level of drone if speaking while flying -Using IR emitter/receiver versus infrared sensor -Software compatibility with available drone hardware -Multiple iterations of the 3D printed piece

What we learned

-Flight Controllers -Waypoints with drones -Arduino Boards -Using infrared sensor, limitations of arduino sound sensors and speakers -Coding in python -Incorporating AI models into code -Using speech-to-text and text-to-speech -Greater understanding of large-language-models -“Prompt Engineering” -Laser Engraving

Implementation and Future Uses

-Could work with the Department of Homeland Security -Teams of drones -Bigger drones focused on surveying and lifting heavy loads -Smaller Drones focused on speed and accessing inaccessible areas -AI Technology needs internet -Satellites -Distributing Drones -Drone Hubs for storage and deployment -Locations based on a range of drones -Future potential uses: -911 dispatch -Supply/resource delivery to areas in need -Disaster relief -Military operations
