Rubbish Revolution

Inspiration

The inspiration for this project is the accumulation of garbage in our college. No one is taking an initiative for waste disposal cause they have no benefit of it. So we thought of a way in which the students who dispose the waste is rewarded.

What it does

On proper dispose of garbage, a point is rewarded which can be used to purchase items from college store or canteen thereby ensuring proper waste disposal.

How we built it

Users are assigned the responsibility of the plastic product they purchase by the store by scanning the QR on the products and then the user's QR. The user can dispose the plastic waste by scanning the QR generated on the garbage bin and that on plastic waste. On proper disposal the user gains points while on improper disposal, and some other user disposes the waste, the disposer gains points while the user who purchased and improperly disposed it gets negative points.

Challenges we ran in to

Coming up with this idea and resolving its edge cases were also challenging. Waste bin design was a major issue due to the cost scenarios. Connectivity was also a main issue.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Web application was developed successfully and also this idea was appreciated.

What's next for Rubbish Revolution

Currently this project focus on institution like college, office and companies. The future scope is that the government attains this project and implement this in public.
