Inspiration

When we were in high school, the process of navigating our way into college was quite confusing, the resources provided at school being too general or not applicable to us specifically. Having a website like this to assist us into our major and target school (Rutgers- New Brunswick) in a more simpler format would have been of the most help. During the process of applying to Rutgers, there were many questions we had, but contacting

Rutgers was much of a hassle because of the immense time it took to receive an answer back.

What it does

Our website aims to provide high school students with information regarding their major in accordance to their high school classes and its relevancy to Rutgers. Along with mentors that students can contact if they have any issues or concerns, "RU Prepared?" also includes embedded links that students can use to access the Rutgers main pages. High school students can save a ton of money by using this website because they will know exactly where to spend it, whether it be on AP exams, dual enrollment or simply being able to focus on getting scholarship money.

How we built it

Using VSCode, we utilized HTML and CSS to create a responsive website for incoming college students.

Challenges we ran into

As beginners with little-to-no coding experience, we had to do a lot of research and learn how to work HTML and CSS, which was a long and tedious process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of making our first website together as a team, regardless of the many obstacles and errors we had encountered. It was definitely a memorable and worthwhile experience.

What we learned

We learned how to code basic HTML and CSS.

What's next for Untitled

Though our site is not the most developed yet, there is still much room for improvement. We hope to incorporate more interactive experiences for the users, such as a live chat where students can directly be in contact with Rutgers faculty, as well as other Rutgers students and mentors. We also hope to incorporate an AI chat bot to provide quick and easy answers to questions students may have. We also would like to create a database for all the questions students send through and publish them with answers online to allow other students who may also have the same questions to view them. Whether it's about financial concerns, academic guidance, etc., we aim to provide high-quality assistance to those who need it.
