Inspiration
RU Living was inspired by the desire to simplify the decision-making process for Rutgers University students when it comes to their living arrangements. In order to make college more pleasant and gratifying, we sought to give students the tools they needed to strike the ideal balance between their academic and lifestyle interests. Our objective was to develop a solution that facilitates communication and connections among housemates while also streamlining the decision-making process. Our commitment to improving Rutgers students' lives during their time at the university is RU Living.
What it does
RU Living assists students in determining the ideal living location at Rutgers University. Students complete a quick assessment to determine their interests in terms of academics and lifestyle.
How we built it
We built RU Living using React for the frontend and MongoDB/Express for the backend.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest hurdle we came across was implementing Express as a middleman for our backend. We struggled in the beginning since this was our first time trying to do something like this but after extensive research, we were finally able to see results. We unfortunately ran out of time from researching new code, but we were able to meet several important goals we set for ourselves.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of taking on a project using MERN stack, which was a first time for us. We were able to learn new technologies in the process and delivered a project that we are ultimately proud of.
What we learned
We learned to use the technologies in MERN stack.
What's next for RU Living
Next, we would like to finish our filtering process to help RU students get the most compatible dorms and help students find compatible room mates as well.
