Inspiration
RSQ Recipes was born out of a value that I have always had which is to reduce food waste as much as possible. It has been with me since I was a kid when I would make sure to scrape the plate to make sure no food was going to waste.
What it does
By asking the user for a list of the ingredients they have in their kitchen, RSQ Recipes is able to use the power of Artificial Intelligence to come up with recipe suggestions without having to acquire more ingredients.
How we built it
RSQ recipes was built entirely on Python, it relies on the integration with the Claude api.
Challenges we ran into
One of the big challenges was my lack of experience with python as I mostly focus on building on Java. Another one of my challenges was that I had never integrated AI into a program and the whole process was new to me. However, I persevered through both problems by persisting through it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I was able to fight my own fears and doubts and that I was able to complete a submission in time. I am also proud that I was able to build my first hackathon project
What we learned
I learned how to package python apps, how to integrate apis, and got a deeper understanding as to how quering AIs work
What's next for RSQ Recipes
I will implement a GUI as well as more user friendly features as well as looking into using machine learning to be able to recognize ingredients.
