Inspiration
Whenever I get stuck somewhere with no internet and nothing to do, I scavenge my phone to find something to pass time with. But oftentimes, I don't find any offline games as I delete them for freeing up memory. This game consumes very little memory (less than 5MB) and will sit in a corner of your phone for the time you get bored and have nothing to do. As a kid, we used to play Rock Paper Scissors between classes to lighten up the mood and have some quick fun. And Sometimes I wish to play a quick game of rock paper scissors in between work, but can't find a buddy to play with. This app solves that problem. The app is single-player and you will be facing off Android in the game.
What it does
It's a single-player Rock Paper Scissor game where you play against Android and try to set the Highest score for others to chase. It's good for a quick stress relief game or for times when you are bored and have nothing to do.
How we built it
This app was built in Android-Studio using Java Programming language and the layout is done in XML. The Icons and images used in this app are taken from publically available sources.
Challenges we ran into
Creating an efficient system to check the winner of the game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I have already started to use this app in between classes and between long coding sessions. It works as great and quick stress relief and won't hook you to the game or distract you like other games.
What we learned
I learned that sometimes simple things can be really enjoyable in life. In terms of coding, I learned about how to create a circular image in Android Studio to create the Icons. It has been a great practice for Android development and I really enjoyed the process of development.
What's next for RPS (Rock Paper Scissor Android Game)
I want to incorporate a multiplayer option where you can play with your friends remotely. I would also like to incorporate a system so that your high score will be recorded and you can share your high score with your friends to chase.
