Inspiration

We were brainstorming ways to create a game that might be more helpful than just giving people a good mood, and that led us to the idea of making a game that gives people inspiration their own games.

What it does

Players can draw key elements that makes up a RPG game during the game gameplay, such as their character’s identity, combat style, and storyline, and eventually build their unique RPG game.

How we built it

The game was built using Unity2D, and all the art assets were sourced from free assets available in the Unity Assets Store.

Challenges we ran into

We had so many ideas, and bringing them all together in such a short time was a huge challenge. We had to either simplify or let go of many of them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

During the design phase, we thought it would be difficult to implement all three combat styles within such a short time. But in the end, even though they’re quite simple, we managed to include all three combat styles.

What we learned

We learned a lot about quickly creating animations and how to efficiently connect different features and modules.

What's next for RPG Simulator

For the next step, we plan to make the boss battle. Additionally, we’re planning to add a companion-drawing event, and we’ve already designed these companions:

  • Pet (can chat with)
  • Mount (increases movement speed)
  • Reliable Ally (fights alongside the player)
  • Spy (will attack the player at the boss fight)
  • Admirer (fights alongside the player, with relationship levels; high relationship level leads to marriage)
