Inspiration

Students and working professionals often look for comfortable places outside their homes to study, attend online meetings, or work productively. Cafés offer a welcoming environment, but finding a suitable workspace with reliable Wi-Fi, clear pricing, and available seating can be difficult.

This inspired us to build RoyalCafe Connect — a platform that connects cafés with students and professionals who need convenient, flexible workspaces.

What It Does

RoyalCafe Connect transforms the café experience into a workspace-booking experience. Users can explore available spaces, choose a suitable workspace, check hourly pricing, and book a place according to their needs.

The platform includes dedicated workspace options with transparent pricing, such as:

• Student Wi-Fi: ₹39 per hour
• Work Workspace: ₹49 per hour

The goal is to make finding and booking a café workspace simpler while helping cafés attract customers and make better use of their available seating.

How We Built It

We built RoyalCafe Connect using Next.js for the web application and Supabase for backend services and data management.

The interface uses a warm, café-inspired visual identity, combining deep brown and soft beige tones to create a welcoming and professional atmosphere. We focused on making the experience intuitive, with clear workspace options, pricing, and booking flows.

The project combines frontend development, database integration, and workspace-booking concepts into a single web platform.

Challenges We Faced

One of our main challenges was balancing an attractive user interface with practical booking functionality. The website needed to feel like a modern café brand while remaining easy to navigate.

We also had to consider database integration, environment configuration, and deployment. Working through these challenges helped us understand the importance of maintaining consistency between the frontend, backend, and production environment.

Another important consideration was ensuring that design improvements would not interfere with existing booking logic or stored data.

What We Learned

Building RoyalCafe Connect strengthened our understanding of modern web development, particularly Next.js, Supabase integration, and deployment workflows.

We learned that creating a useful product involves more than designing attractive screens. A successful platform must solve a real problem, communicate information clearly, and provide a smooth user experience.

This project also helped us appreciate how thoughtful UI/UX design can make everyday activities more convenient.

What's Next

We envision expanding RoyalCafe Connect with real-time seat availability, improved reservation management, secure payment integration, café-owner dashboards, and workspace recommendations based on user preferences.

Our long-term goal is to create a convenient ecosystem where cafés become accessible, productive workspaces for students, freelancers, and professionals.
