Inspiration
This game is inspired by the theme for hackUMBC two-fold. First "royalty" is the brand of grape that is used in our vineyard. Secondly, the objective of the game is to produce wine to serve to the king which is "royalty". We were also inspired by resource management games such as Papa's Pizzeria for our game. We're proud of being able to create a complex but fun resource management game with different systems, and a difficulty curve. We built this game using the Unity Game Engine.
What it does
The game is a resource management game where you are able to cultivate grapes on a vineyard that you can control through a grid layout. After cultivating grapes, you can then place them within barrels which they are then crushed to produce wine. Once you have wine you can serve this wine to the king and increase the amount of coins that you have. You also need to produce enough to be able to pay of the tax at the end of the day-night cycle else you lose the game.
Challenges we ran into
The major challenge of our project was the number of art assets and the number of mechanics that was required to be coordinated, connected and implemented. Because the game required utilizing a lot of systems there was a lot of moving parts within the project.
