Inspiration
The theme of the Hackathon and our desire to gain experience for our Game Development Class.
What it does
It is a simple game where the goal is to protect the baby dinosaurs for as long as possible.
How we built it
We used Unity, Visual Studio Code, and C# to create the Project. Lospec Pixel Editor and freesounds.org were used to create the sprites and background music.
Challenges we ran into
Manipulating serialize field variables in order to add a debuff to the Mom dinosaur. Creating the sprites. Issues with calling a function within all instances of a prefab. Small dinosaurs AI moving at undesired speeds and having them move to random places on the level. Applying a debuff on the Mom dinosaur.
Things we were unable to implement
Difficulty progression and multiple levels. A power up to improve speed of the Mom dinosaur and change bullet type. A pause menu and sounds effects.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully created simple AI and sprites/art style. Animations on the power ups such as the branch power up. The style and layout of the UI.
What we learned
How to create sprites and simple AI for NPCs. Working as a team in a game development setting.
