Rowdy Romp

Inspiration

As someone who has lived in San Antonio for only a year, we oftentimes do not feel very adventurous to know the city (especially downtown). We wanted to create a project that would give people an excuse to explore and travel around.

What it does

Our project is able to get coordinates through the device and find a marker within a one mile radius of the user that is close to a marker on map that gives a user an interesting point to travel to.

How we built it

We built this project using the snack expo sandbox and React Native.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a lot of issues using react native as this was our first time using react.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One accomplishment we are proud of is getting our application to run on android and ios through expo. Another thing was creating a page that was not a static html page.

What we learned

We learned about many of the react native dependencies and built in tools that are available to developers.

What's next for Rowdy Romp

Next we would like to show information relating to local events either still using google maps or using another api like Eventbrite so that our coordinates could be pointed to events happening in an area.
