Back Story

Because of my experience in the education industry, having worked in that sector for over 17 years, I realized that a significant pain point for tutors and lecturers is marking exam papers. It's a time of year that all teachers dread when they have to collect hundreds of student papers to go through and painstakingly mark them.

Fortunately, some developments in multiple-choice exam sheet scanning technology have been made to assist teachers in this endeavor. However, sometimes the smart sheets are not available, and this technology is not accessible in every country. As a result, hundreds of teachers still administer exam papers manually and have to go through and mark those papers.

I realized that AI is very well suited to conduct this activity on their behalf, and that is really the inspiration for this project. There's also a lot of opportunity to use this project to generate a lot of clean and well-labeled data, with the users' permission, of course, to help develop systems for educational purposes across the world.
