Inspiration

Inspired by the high-stakes world of Formula 1 racing, where race engineers use real-time telemetry to make split-second strategic decisions. We realized that while racing teams have "Race Control," software teams often fly blind until the end of a sprint. We wanted to bring that same precision and proactive strategy to Agile development.

What it does

Rovo Sprint Strategist is an AI-powered "Race Control" for Jira. It acts as a digital Race Engineer for engineering teams, monitoring sprint health in real-time. It uses Atlassian Rovo to analyze Jira data, predict velocity, and suggest "Pit-Stop" adjustments—such as scope re-prioritization or workload rebalancing—to ensure teams reach the finish line successfully.

How we built it

The solution is a native Atlassian Forge application.

  • Platform: Atlassian Forge (UI Kit & Custom UI).
  • AI Intelligence: Atlassian Rovo Agents & Actions, powered by Anthropic Claude.
  • Backend/Storage: Forge Storage API for state management, with a Supabase-powered analytics engine for historical trend analysis.
  • Frontend: High-performance React dashboard with Framer Motion for a premium F1-telemetry aesthetic.

Challenges we ran into

Orchestrating real-time Jira event triggers with AI analysis required careful performance tuning. We also spent significant time developing our "Sprint Health Score" algorithm to ensure it balances velocity, blocker density, and team capacity in a way that provides truly actionable insights.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully building a functional Rovo Agent that can perform complex sprint adjustments via Custom Actions.
  • Designing a "Pit-Stop" recommendation engine that provides data-backed strategic shifts.
  • Achieving a premium, dark-mode "Race Control" UI that makes project tracking engaging and professional.

What we learned

We learned how to leverage Atlassian Rovo’s new agentic framework to create tools that don't just display data but actively participate in the decision-making process, moving from reactive reporting to proactive strategy.

What's next for Rovo Sprint Strategist

We plan to expand our "Telemetry" sensors to include code quality metrics and integrate with Slack/Teams for instant "Pit-Stop" alerts. We also aim to enhance our "Leaderboard" with more advanced gamification to further boost team morale and collaboration.
