Inspiration

The inspiration for this project came from the common frustrations Jira administrators experience when setting up and managing complex forms. By integrating ROVO AI, we wanted to create a solution that simplifies these processes and reduces manual effort.

What it does

Our solution enables administrators to configure Dynamic Forms for Jira through intuitive commands to the ROVO agent. Additionally, admins can request a summary of the current configuration, including detailed rules and dependencies for specific fields in Jira. These summaries are presented in a clear and organized format via the chat interface, streamlining form management and ensuring transparency.

How we built it

We integrated Rovo AI into the Dynamic Forms for Jira app to streamline configuration and improve readability. Using NLP, admins can configure fields and review summaries via natural language commands.

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges was integrating AI-driven configuration capabilities with Jira's existing infrastructure. Ensuring smooth communication between the ROVO agent and the app features proved tricky due to the complex field dependencies. Additionally, presenting configuration summaries in a clear, concise manner within the chat interface required overcoming significant UI/UX challenges to make sure the information was both accessible and easy to navigate.

We’re proud of successfully integrating AI into an existing marketplace app, improving the user experience while maintaining compliance with Atlassian standards. The solution addresses real pain points and offers tangible productivity gains for Jira admins. We are thrilled to support the creation of user journeys rooted in collaboration with artificial intelligence, with a deep commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.

What we learned

We learned that integrating AI-powered tools with Jira’s infrastructure requires a deep understanding of both system limitations and user needs. The complexity of Jira’s field configurations and the variety of use cases meant we had to prioritize flexibility in design while ensuring ease of use for admins. Additionally, we discovered the importance of clear, concise communication when displaying configuration summaries—users need information quickly, and the data format must be intuitive to avoid unnecessary friction. The project also deepened our technical expertise in the Forge ecosystem and AI-based systems.

What's next for Dynamic Forms Assistant

Future enhancements for the ROVO Agent will focus on streamlining configuration management and improving personalization:

Schema Configuration Migration: Allow users to apply configurations from one screen schema to another, simplifying management across projects.
Batch Set Value Action Updates: Update "set value" actions across multiple configurations at once, saving time on field updates.
Global Action Settings: Enable global setting of actions like "required" for specific fields across all configurations.
AI-Powered Configuration Suggestions: Use AI to suggest dynamic schema configurations based on historical data.
Intelligent Notifications: Notify users of missing fields or discrepancies between configurations for consistency.
Role-Based Form Personalization: Tailor forms based on user roles, showing relevant fields depending on the user’s responsibilities.
Data Center Migration Helper: Assist in migrating configurations from Jira Data Center to Cloud seamlessly.
