Inspiration
While technology has made navigation extremely easy, it has also adversely affected the independant navigational abilities of the common man. We no longer bother to learn routes! This weekend I wanted to create a game that entertains kids while teching them geography and the routes of their neighborhood.
What it does
Rover provides:
- Geography bazed puzzle challenges
- Custom puzzle creation using local street maps
Rover teaches you:
- Geography
- Enhances your familiarity with your neighbourhood using custom local map-based puzzles
- This knowledge will be very useful especially when they are in any kind of danger.
How we built it
Rover was built using Unity and the title animation was made and rendered using Blender.
Challenges we ran into
- Local map uploading and subsequent sprite creation was quite challenging.
- The blender title creation and subsequent rendering required learning a lot of interesting concepts.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Rover keeps kids entertained while educating them about the world.
- Creating this infotainment based app that might help kids to learn is something I'm proud of. ## What we learned
- Learned more about Unity and custom sprite creation
- Learned a lot of interesting concepts in Blender. ## What's next for Rover
- I plan to create a few more puzzles.
- Enhance the UI and provide more accessibility options.
