Currently the mechanical lead for the brand new University Rover Challenge team at Stanford
Need to design a robust drive base, first trying a 4 wheeled design. Many constants to set (wheel size, thickness of metal, maximum wheelbase length, etc) so I set those first, but obviously there's a lot of design choices that can be made.
Needed to learn how to run strain/load simulations to make sure the design is strong enough to endure throughout the competition.
Still need to design the arm.
