The GenomeLink API takes a user's genome as input and returns information about what the user's genetic tendencies are, for example, nutritional information such as how likely you are calcium or vitamin A deficient, health information such as your BMI, etc. We built an IOSapp that creates a personalized daily routine for the user based on their genetic makeup. In this project I handled the backend. I learned to use Flask as the web framework for setting up the API. Then I parsed the data retrieved after processing the user’s genomic data and wrote an algorithm to generate a work schedule based on nutritional, health, job fatigue, etc. I worked on this project with an iOS software developer and he was in charge of the frontend using swift. I learned a lot about project collaboration from this project because I had to think about how to efficiently integrate my work with my partner and the best data structure to store all the information I parse.
