Inspiration

The inspiration came from a very real pain point. When operating a small commercial brand focused on specific niches—like premium hair and bath towels—margins are incredibly tight. We realized that small sellers often lose up to 40% of their revenue simply to logistics and middleman shipping fees. While massive e-commerce giants have their own optimized fleets, independent sellers are left paying premium retail shipping rates. We wanted to level the playing field.

What it does

Smart Consolidation Platform designed for small-to-medium e-commerce sellers. Instead of every shop sending individual packages at premium rates, the platform acts as a digital logistics cooperative. It automatically matches and groups outgoing orders from independent sellers located in the same geographic cluster, consolidating them into bulk shipments to negotiate wholesale rates with courier services.

How we built it

Given the strict time constraints, we focused heavily on Practicality and Execution Design.

  • Backend: We architected the core logic using C# (.NET 8), strictly adhering to Clean Architecture principles. This ensures the system is enterprise-ready and highly scalable.
  • Database: SQL Server was chosen to manage the complex relational data between sellers, zip codes, and shared invoices.
  • Frontend: We designed the mobile application interface using Dart (Flutter) to ensure a seamless, cross-platform experience for store owners on the go.

Challenges we ran into

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Rapid System Architecture: We successfully mapped out a complete, highly feasible technical execution plan in under 2 hours.
  • Scalable Foundation: Instead of designing a "hacky" prototype just to show something on screen, we are incredibly proud of strictly applying Clean Architecture patterns for our .NET backend. This ensures our solution isn't just a hackathon toy, but a system ready for real-world scaling from day one.
  • Solving a True Pain Point: We stayed true to the hackathon's core mission. We designed a highly practical solution that directly attacks the 40% logistics revenue drain faced by real independent sellers, turning a personal business challenge into a scalable tech product.

What we learned

We learned that practicality beats complexity. For an MVP, a well-structured SQL query that groups orders by destination ZIP codes is far more valuable and immediately deployable than trying to build a complex, theoretical AI routing model that takes months to train.

What's next for RouteSync: Smart SME Logistics

The next step is to deploy the .NET API to a live server and onboard a test group of 5-10 local sellers to run a physical pilot program, proving the cost-reduction model in the real world.
