Inspiration

As all of us are STEM majors and enjoy math, we want to share the joy with others and break down learning barriers for children in K-12: an arithmetic game, since many people tend to struggle with it. Including fun facts could keep players interested in solving problems and practicing regularly, as it sets a fun learning environment for our game users

What it does

We’ve created an engaging arithmetic game that combines quick mental math with a unique reward system of points and global trivia. Users will be given short math problems with simple operations. If their answer is correct, they will receive points and fun facts from around the globe! This program can be expanded to include many more languages, as it's meant to be a global math practice tool. Built with accessibility in mind, we aim to make learning at home fun, exciting, and rewarding for everyone, helping our users bridge gaps in their math skills by focusing on arithmetic and building a solid foundation.

How we built it

We used Google Gemini to help us generate code for what we wanted to program based on our idea. Our code was written in C++, and we used the IDE CLion from JetBrains. The fun facts were generated by the AI DeepSeek.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge that we ran into as a group was our developing programming skills and familiarity with the system we used (GitHub and C++).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are all extremely proud that we learned to use GitHub and C++ in a collaborative setting! We are also very proud of the work that we were able to create in such a limited amount of time!

What we learned

We learned how to optimize our time, organize our ideas as a group and turn them into a real, working project. We also learned how to navigate a shared repository on GitHub , as well as navigate CLion and use the program to complete our project! We expanded our knowledge on writing efficient and clean code using arrays, loops, and other useful

What's next for Round the World Math

If we had more time, we would add an option for users to select a specific area of fun facts they're interested in, using the fun game we created to strengthen their arithmetic skills. Also, adding more languages to our existing list (English and Spanish) to make the game even more accessible to a wider variety of users from different backgrounds.
