Inspiration

Our team wanted to build an amazing 3D game using the Unity game engine while relying on Blender software for modeling and animation.

What it does

We worked towards creating an interesting video game project that takes place in the post apocalyptic future. The setting is in an isolated island after a virus has taken over. There is no possible escape - it is either kill or be killed.

How we built it

We used Unity for the game engine as well as the environment. In Blender, we created and animated our 3D models. C# was our programming language of choice when writing the scripts within Unity.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was parenting our player and zombie meshes to armatures so that we could create animations with them. The cause of this issue was later discovered to be an improper distribution of the weight paint on the mesh that we were trying to parent with.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of working towards our first 3D video game using Unity and how we have learned a lot about how to use this software to bring our vision to life.

What we learned

The difficulty of the game development process such as topics like rigging, modeling, and animation.

What's next for The Undead Legion

We plan on continuing our work on the video game by finishing character animations, creating more weapons, and adding additional gameplay features like looting and an inventory system. We hope to make the video game compatible with a wide variety of different platforms to launch on.
