Inspiration
We wanted to build a sustainable app that helped us and the community around us make greener transportation decisions.
What it does
We have developed a prototype app that aims to help people make more 'green' transportation decisions. The app will allow the user to enter their destination and gives them "green" options which will also display the carbon emission associated with the respective "root".
How we built it
We did some online research and developed some screenshots that we transferred to Adobe XD which we then used to build a prototype. We coded the app using Swift, Xcode and Zeplin.
Challenges we ran into
A lot of the features we wanted to build were too ambitious and unfortunately we weren't able to implement those because of time constraints and lack of knowledge. We tried to implement the features to the best of our knowledge! One of our hackers didn't have a mac which really limited our resources but we were able to effectively rearrange our skill sets to be the most productive team we could.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the prototype and presentation we have built. We also enjoyed learning more swift code and implementing our new found skills to the app. We were also able to build a statistics profile under a short amount of time which was quite difficult to do.
What we learned
Programming in swift; listening to everyone's ideas and being able to implement them in a timely manner.
What's next for Roots
We want to spend time building the features we didn't get a chance to do.
