Inspiration

Most people have never heard of proprioception, yet it controls every movement we make. We were inspired by the fact that 1 in 3 adults over 65 fall every year due to poor proprioceptive awareness, and 80% of desk workers develop measurable postural drift without ever knowing it. Nobody has built a tool for this until now.

What it does

Rootline is the world's first proprioception tracking and training tool. Using just your phone's camera and AI pose estimation, Rootline maps 12 key joint landmarks on your body in real time, detects positional deviations, and guides you through daily calibration exercises to rebuild your body awareness.

How we built it

We designed Rootline entirely in Figma using FigmaMake to generate our UI screens. The app concept is built around AI camera-based pose estimation technology similar to MediaPipe and PoseNet. We designed 10 app screens covering the full user journey from onboarding to daily calibration to progress tracking.

Challenges we ran into

As backend developers with no prior Figma experience, learning speculative UI design from scratch in 48 hours was our biggest challenge. We had to think beyond just building and focus on storytelling, user experience, and visual design.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of designing a complete, polished, and functional prototype for a genuinely novel wellness concept that addresses a hidden human sense nobody is talking about.

What we learned

We learned the fundamentals of UI/UX design, speculative design thinking, FigmaMake, Figma prototyping, and how to tell a compelling product story in under 5 minutes.

What's next for Rootline

Integration with actual AI pose estimation APIs like MediaPipe, wearable sensor support, physiotherapist dashboard, and clinical trial partnerships for rehabilitation use cases.
