Inspiration

"Our motivation for embarking on this project stems from a sincere desire to spare others from the complexities and inconveniences of navigating through awkward and chaotic subletting arrangements, experiences we ourselves have encountered.

What it does

We present an efficient student housing platform designed to cater to both landlords and renters, with a particular focus on facilitating short-term stays during unconventional periods.

What sets our design apart is its commitment to simplicity and user-friendliness. Our web application offers a seamless experience for creating or perusing housing listings, while also fostering genuine and personalized user profiles. By implementing an intuitive filtering system based on price, location, and rental duration, coupled with an optimization algorithm, users are presented with tailored options that align with their lifestyle preferences and interests."

How we built it

We used Next.js and Supabase to create RoomRadar, leveraging the powerful features of these platforms to build an intuitive and efficient housing finder app.

Challenges we ran into

We faced several challenges along the way:

UVic WiFi: It gave us more trouble than our toughest bugs (seriously!).
Authentication: Ensuring secure and smooth authentication was trickier than expected.
Images: Managing and storing images effectively was a significant hurdle.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the obstacles, we are proud of:

User Interface: We're thrilled with how the UI turned out, providing a great user experience.
Time Management: Successfully completing the project under a huge time crunch.
Team Collaboration: Seamlessly integrating different pieces of code from various team members.
