Having unified, or coehisive room enviorments.
What it does
When you swipe a card your prefences are loaded from a mongoDB database that is hosted on another server and then that information is sent to a raspberry which serves as the controler for the room. Your preferences are then loaded up through the controller, changing you desktop wallpaper, opening up your favorite website, playing music, and changing the temperature of the room.
How we built it
We used raspberry pi's as our server and controller. We created a database using mongoDB to store the preferences of people assosicated with a Purdue ID card.
Challenges we ran into
Internet connection was a challenge, as well as learning how to parse json.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Even though we had worked in programming langauges we weren't familair with we were able to use online documentation and gain some experience with new content.
What we learned
We learned about project planning, team work, and new material such as Python.
