Inspiration
We were inspired by how common roommate conflicts are in college. Many students are matched randomly or through basic forms, which ignore real lifestyle differences like sleep, cleanliness, and social habits.
What it does
RoomieMatch is an AI-powered app that matches roommates based on lifestyle habits. It generates a compatibility score and explains why people match and where they might clash.
How we built it
We designed the UI in Canva and built the app using Xcode. We used AI tools like Claude to help generate our PRD, matching logic, and compatibility insights.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge was designing an accurate matching system while keeping it simple. We also had to balance giving useful insights without overwhelming the user.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating a clean, intuitive UI and building a system that solves a real-world problem in a meaningful and scalable way.
What we learned
We learned how to combine AI with product design, structure a real-world solution, and build something that users would actually find useful.
What's next for RoomieMatch
We plan to improve the matching algorithm, add more personalization, and explore partnerships with universities to integrate into real housing systems.
