Inspiration
One night out with my friend Nathan, who runs a real estate construction company, he shared his frustration: every time he builds a new property, staging before listing costs him between 5–8k AUD. He has to hire photographers, rent furniture, and coordinate setups — a process that’s both expensive and time-consuming.
Since I’ve been building AI apps, I immediately thought: why can’t staging be instant and digital? That conversation inspired me to create Room AI Decor — a tool that gives realtors beautiful, staged photos in seconds, without the overhead of traditional staging.
What it does
Room AI Decor is a virtual staging app for real estate. Users upload a property photo Describe the desired look (e.g. “add modern furniture, change walls to light blue”) Get a professionally staged image instantly
This helps agents sell faster, while saving thousands on staging costs.
How we built it
Balancing AI output consistency with diverse room types and furniture styles Optimizing image uploads (large photo files → performance issues on mobile) Integrating RevenueCat paywalls smoothly into Expo without breaking the user flow Designing a workflow where edits feel natural, but still powerful for realtors
Challenges we ran into
Balancing AI output consistency with diverse room types and furniture styles Optimizing image uploads (large photo files → performance issues on mobile) Integrating RevenueCat paywalls smoothly into Expo without breaking the user flow Designing a workflow where edits feel natural, but still powerful for realtors. Revenue cat setup was a bit of a nightmare, maybe my lack of experience, but it was hell, i feel like there was missing actual clear check list for the actual configuration, but after days of trial an error I finally managed to test it on a real device, did the sandbox, and then testflight and it worked smoothly. but now just need to reset the order of paywall etc, but that's easy fix compared to the entire config situation.

Expand AI options (different styles: modern, Scandinavian, luxury, minimalist) Add before/after comparison views to highlight transformations Build team accounts so agencies can manage multiple properties together Optimize AI speed and allow batch staging for an entire property listing
