About the Project
Inspiration
The motivation behind Rolmal stems from the alarming rate of deaths caused by malaria, especially among vulnerable populations in sub-Saharan Africa. The goal is not only to prevent the onset of malaria but also to mitigate its complications through early risk assessment.
Project Goals
Rolmal aims to empower communities with an AI-driven tool for malaria risk assessment, targeting high-risk groups like young children and pregnant women. By leveraging predictive analytics, the app can help guide users toward timely preventive measures, ultimately aiming to reduce malaria cases and improve community health outcomes.
Technologies and Tools
Built primarily with Flutter for a smooth cross-platform experience, Rolmal integrates the Google Gemini API to provide robust AI-driven predictions. This combination allows the app to deliver critical risk insights while maintaining a user-friendly experience.
Lessons Learned
Developing Rolmal has been an enriching journey. Working on this project has significantly enhanced my Flutter development skills and provided a deeper understanding of large language models (LLMs) and their potential for real-world impact in health-related projects.
Challenges
The development process for Rolmal has been smooth, with no major setbacks encountered. The biggest takeaway has been the journey of blending technology with purpose, highlighting the potential of AI in addressing global health issues.
