Inspiration

Job hunting can be frustrating because the same CV often gets sent to completely different roles, even though every job has different requirements. RoleFit was created to make it easier to tailor an existing CV to a specific opportunity without having to rewrite everything from scratch.

The main idea was simple: help people make their CV more relevant to a job while keeping their actual experience and information intact.

What it does

RoleFit takes two inputs:

An existing CV or resume A job description

It analyzes both and provides a job match score, identifies relevant and missing skills, highlights important requirements, and generates a tailored version of the CV.

RoleFit also shows what changed and why, so users can understand how their CV was adapted instead of simply accepting AI generated content.

Most importantly, RoleFit follows a no fabrication rule. It does not add fake experience, qualifications, projects, achievements, or skills that were not present in the original CV.

How I built it

RoleFit was built as a lightweight web application with an AI powered CV analysis and tailoring workflow.

The application processes the CV and job description, identifies relevant information, compares the requirements with the candidate's existing experience, and generates structured results for the interface.

A lot of attention was also given to the visual design. Instead of making it look like a typical AI SaaS website, RoleFit uses an editorial inspired interface, distinctive typography, strong visual hierarchy, and a more professional career focused style.

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest challenges was making the AI useful without allowing it to exaggerate or fabricate a candidate's experience.

It is easy for an AI model to see a requirement in a job description and simply add it to a resume. The AI instructions had to be carefully designed so RoleFit could rewrite and emphasize existing experience without inventing anything.

Another challenge was building a polished product within a very limited amount of time. I had to focus on the most important features and avoid spending time on unnecessary functionality.

Making the interface responsive was also important, especially when displaying detailed CV information and before and after comparisons on smaller screens.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud that RoleFit became a complete end to end workflow:

CV → Job Description → AI Analysis → Match Score → Tailored CV → Change Explanation

I'm especially proud of the transparency behind the tailoring process. Instead of simply generating another CV, RoleFit explains what was changed and why.

I also managed to build the MVP quickly while giving it a distinct visual identity instead of making it look like another generic AI generated application.

What I learned

I learned that building a useful AI product is not just about connecting an AI model to a website. The instructions given to the model, the structure of its responses, and the way those results are presented to users are equally important.

I also learned how important it is to put boundaries around AI. For something like a CV, preventing the model from making up information is just as important as getting it to generate good content.

Another thing I learned was how much UX, typography, responsiveness, and visual design can affect how professional a project feels, especially when the development time is limited.

What's next for RoleFit

The long term goal is to turn RoleFit from a CV tailoring tool into a complete job application companion that helps people present their real experience in the strongest and most relevant way possible.
