We discovered Snap's contest rather late, but it sparked our interest right away because of its international character and freedom given to participants. We knew the main focus of a lens should be to create something fun & extraordinary that lights up daily life. As soon as we started to think of interesting animals, we stumbled upon extinct animals.Once we goofed around with dinosaur designs & functionalities, we knew we had a sweetspot of creative lens possibilities & priceless video results.
The perfect platform to raise awareness about extinct animals and fighting climate change in a next phase!That was the "easy part". No we had only 1 week left to transform this concept into a decent execution. This became a week long hackaton that challenged us to learn everything about Blender, .js-scripts, Object-rigging and Lens Studio.It was challenging, but thanks to the hilarious tests in between and our eagerness to learn, we were more than motivated enough to deliver Rodeo Rex. The filter attaches the fully rigged dino on the 3D body tracker and erases the users legs (with ML erase) to give a realistic experience.
