Inspiration

Most resume builders claim to be "free," but eventually charge users at the download stage or lock features behind subscriptions. RocketResume.me was born from a desire to create an honest, fast, and free platform — especially for job seekers from all backgrounds, including those just starting out.

What it does

RocketResume.me is a modern resume builder that allows users to:

  • Sign up and save multiple resumes under one account
  • Create multiple resume versions for different jobs
  • Share resumes with a public link for online access
  • Generate a professional bio with AI (OpenAI) based on user input
  • Export resumes as polished PDF documents

How we built it

  • Backend & Database: Supabase for user authentication and secure data storage
  • AI Integration: OpenAI API to generate bios
  • Hosting: Netlify
  • Domain: IONOS

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing a user experience that supports versioning without complexity
  • Keeping the app fast and responsive while securely saving user data
  • Fine-tuning AI-generated bios to sound natural and relevant
  • Implementing a public resume-sharing feature that remains secure

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully launched a fully working web app during the hackathon
  • Secure and scalable resume storage via Supabase
  • Seamless integration of AI-powered bio generation
  • Public link sharing feature that makes resumes easy to distribute

What we learned

  • How to use Supabase effectively for auth and real-time data
  • Optimizing PDF export without server-side processing
  • AI integration (OpenAI) can dramatically boost value and user experience
  • Simplified design improves accessibility and user retention

What’s next for RocketResume.me
