Rocket Word Odyssey: A Reddit Word Puzzle Adventure

As a word game enthusiast and space exploration fan, I wanted to create an engaging, daily word puzzle that brings together the joy of language and the excitement of a space-themed challenge. The idea was to combine the classic word transformation puzzle with the interactive nature of Reddit.

What it does

Rocket Word Odyssey is a unique word puzzle game integrated directly into Reddit. Players are challenged to transform one word into another by changing just one letter at a time, with each valid word representing a step in the rocket's journey. Key features include:

• Dynamically generated word puzzles for each post
• Daily challenges that change based on the post's unique ID
• Space-themed UI with rocket animations
• Tracking of moves and time spent solving the puzzle
• Instant validation of words against a dictionary API

How we built it

The project was developed using:

• Devvit (Reddit's app development framework)
• TypeScript
• Custom word validation logic
• Dynamic word pair selection algorithm
• Responsive Reddit-integrated UI

Challenges we ran into

• Implementing a robust word validation system that works within the Devvit framework
• Creating a unique word pair selection method for each post
