Inspiration
Math can be dull - but gamifying can make it fun and even a preliminary exploration of future career aspirations (even as a game designer!)! Lately, space exploration is a hot topic (SpaceX, Space Force, etc.), so can we leverage this momentum to introduce math concepts in an engaging way that whets young minds' appetites for learning?
What it does
The objective is simple! Use your math knowledge to navigate a rocket ship from one graph coordinate to another as shown by the different colored platforms.
How we built it
Unity and C#!
Challenges we ran into
Learning good game development practices in 24 hours!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Made a working 3d game for social good!
What we learned
How to go to the next level and delay actions (e.g. after crash, let rocket settle)
What's next for Rocket Math
Definitely more storytelling to ground players for the reason why they're playing the game and going on these missions in the first place. It'd be fun to create more complex levels, too!
