Inspiration
The inspiration for this project was that we had heard many CS students say that they felt like they had chosen the wrong major, that they we're interested by it, and that they don't want to software engineering but feel like that's the only choice.
What it does
It first quizzes users on generic interests that they have. Based on this, ChatGPT assesses what potential fields they might be interested in and recommends those fields. Users then have the option of choosing 3 potential interests to explore, such as AI, Cloud, and UI/UX. Once they've selected their interests, they can look at pathways of subjects they need to learn in order to master that field. They also receive news articles and job postings specific to their interests.
How we built it
We built it by modularizing development such that each new feature would not disrupt the operation of other features and ensured continuous collaborative development.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many problems with authentication, CORS, and CSS.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of creating a website that has a great look and feel to it, is genuinely useful to college students, and has potential for further development.
What we learned
That it is best not to reinvent the wheel.
What's next for RockCS
