Inspiration

Rock Paper Riot asks what happens when rock, paper, scissors becomes a living battlefield. Every clash follows the familiar rule, but the loser joins the winner’s side. A single conversion can start an arena-wide comeback.

What it does

Classic Riot is a fast arena battle. Pick Rock, Paper, or Scissors and swing the fight with Vortex, Stasis, Rally, and Quake.

Triple Siege turns the same rule into three-lane strategy: deploy squads, defend towers, break through to the enemy Core, and compete in Game Center multiplayer and leagues. Both modes keep the outcome of every encounter easy to understand.

The game is free to download. Riot Pass is a permanent, one-time in-app purchase powered by RevenueCat. It unlocks Triple Siege and premium arena content without a recurring subscription.

How we built it

Rock Paper Riot is native to iOS. SwiftUI handles the interface, SpriteKit runs the battles, GameKit powers Game Center features, and RevenueCat manages the Riot Pass entitlement. Original illustrated fighters, arena lighting, announcer cues, sound, animation, and haptics reinforce the action.

Challenges and lessons

The hardest design challenge was making dozens of simultaneous conversions readable on a phone. Strong silhouettes, team colors, lane-specific status callouts, spatial audio, and brief tactical pauses show where momentum is changing. Triple Siege added towers, reserves, interventions, online synchronization, disconnect recovery, and ranked progression while preserving one simple combat rule.

We learned that spectacle works best when each effect explains a gameplay event: a conversion, a threatened lane, a protected tower, or a last-second reversal.

What’s next

We are balancing Triple Siege from live matches, expanding the arena and fighter collection, and refining ranked play.
