Rock’n Riddles was inspired by the idea of making exploration fun through technology, like a modern treasure hunt.

We learned that simplicity is key, and real-world factors like power, cost, and durability shape design choices.

We built it using an ESP32, sensors, an OLED screen, a speaker, and a 3D-printed case, with software written in React Native and C++ for the ESP32. To store and manage game data efficiently, we used Pinata for decentralized cloud storage, and for secure user authentication, we integrated Auth0 into our mobile app.

Our biggest challenges were managing ESP32 storage limitations, troubleshooting Bluetooth connectivity, and optimizing costs to keep it under $21 per unit. In the end, Rock’n Riddles turns movement into an adventure!
