Inspiration
Since, the theme of the project is "Launch" and as the hackathon focuses on supporting under privileged group of people. We combined this idea with our love for music to creatae a website that will be help users to find lesser known artist.
What it does
Our website allows users to discover small artists based on their MBTI , Favorite Music Genre and their Favorite Artist from that genre . To promote the lesser known artist we have linked their instagram spotify account and also another link to their most listened song so that it will be easier for the users to find them.
How we built it
The backend of this website was created using python flask. While the frontend used HTML, CSS and JavaScript for interactive design.
Challenges we ran into
As most of us are beginners and never attended a hackathon before, we had a hard time navigating through github especially branching and minor problems while committing. As we have not used html and css before, it was quite hard to understand everything in a short span of time. We also faced some problem to GET and POST the information between the server and local and know how to use the API. Additionally, it was quite difficult to find small artists.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Eventhough we struggled in the beginning, we still managed to complete our website by the given time. We are pretty proud of the website as it matches our expectation. We are also proud of learning new concepts and languages.
What we learned
We learned how websites are built using both frontend and backend, how they work together to ensure a website runs smoothly and seamlessly . Furthermore, we found out about various softwares and languages that we can be used for frontend such as Figma to style our website better. We learnt how to implement AI tools like Gemini to our program.
What's next for rock it artist
We want to expand our website by adding more genres and introducing new artists. We also want our website to reach new audience who are enthusiastic about music as we are. Most importantly, we want our website to help small and struggling artists because we believe that nothing should prevent people from pursuing their passion.
