This was a contract project with Aura Interactive.

How it works

Use your phone to control a Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot in augmented reality. Point the phone at the provided image target to ground your robot on the table. Move and punch, get in the knock-out blow!

Challenges I ran into

This game was built on top of OpenGL using the Android NDK. The combination of NDK (C code) and SDK (Java code) was a bit challenging, especially when calling back and forth (e.g. networking and sound in Java, graphics in native).

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Successfully bringing together a bunch of low-level technologies.

What I learned

An enormous amount about Android SDK/NDK development.

What's next for Rock 'Em Sock 'Em AR Demo

Nothing right now, but it lead to a great job at Qualcomm helping to build the Vuforia platform in its early days. It's a great AR platform, you should check it out!
