Inspiration
Games that emulate coding in some way, like Hacknet, and simulators such as EuroTruck Simulator
What it does
The player has a limited view of the game. One part of the screen is a terminal, in which the player can input certain commands. In this version of the game the only commands include moving back and forth and rotating right or left. The other side of the screen contains camera views, one is a robot view and the other is a bird's eye view.
How we built it
We decided to work with Unity as our game engine. We also used blender to model some extra assets.
Challenges we ran into
Our idea was slightly ambitious, there definitely wasn't much we could actually get done for the Hackathon. We decided to go with it anyway, whatever we could come up with in that time could become a framework for a much more polished product in the future.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We believe that the idea is fairly novel; there doesn't seem to exist much games with an idea similar to ours.
What we learned
Many of us were beginners when it comes to Unity and C#. By taking on this project we gained some pretty useful experience. We also gained some experience when it comes to modeling assets in blender.
What's next for Robotics Class (game)
In the future, we would like to give the game more polish by increasing the detail on assets, adding more original assets, adding sound/music, adding more mechanics such as grabbing/controlling robot claws, changing camera views using commands, and increasing complexity of puzzles present in the game.
